Crops

Not sure if I'll bother with potatoes again,
I've tried growing them in special sacks for two years now
but quite honestly I get a better crop from the odd discarded
old potato in the compost bin.

Swiss chard is always worth planting though
and if you plant rainbow chard you get the most beautiful
shiny red, yellow and white stems
and glossy, crinkly, squeaky leaves.

I strip the leaf from the stem, chop the stems
and steam briefly before tossing the lot
in hot olive oil, chopped garlic and chilli.
Then pile it onto slices of toasted courgette bread that went wrong
and didn't rise or cook properly.
